About Gary

Gary was born and raised in Philippi, West Virginia. After graduation, he moved to the Washington, D. C. area, working for Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company of Maryland. The communications trade interested him like no other occupation. He worked for C & P Telephone of Philippi, West Virginia for about one year. Gary was offered a job as central office technician for Cordova, Alaska Telephone Cooperative. He worked there for 22 years, along with managing three businesses; Alaska Computer Specialists, The Open Shutter, and The Queen's Chair Bed and Breakfast. The computer shop became a family business including computer sales, consulting, programming, repair, graphic design, web design and video editing. In November of 2000, Alaska Power & Telephone (AP&T) in Craig, Alaska offered Gary the General Manager's position of the telephone division for Prince of Wales Island. Gary retired in 2004, and moved his family back to Philippi, West Virginia where he manages his two businesses, Mt. Liberty Construction, Inc. and WV Connections. Gary has three children, two of whom work for him. His son and son-in-law are certified installers for Wildblue and Starband. His daughter is a graphic designer and works as his marketing specialist. His youngest daughter is still in school.
